Itinerary for one Day Trivandrum Local Sigtseeing Tour Package

Offering an appealing blend of a strongly rooted heritage and a nostalgic colonial legacy, the city of Trivandrum has an exceptional vibe to it. Despite being the capital of Kerala, the city has, quite astonishingly, managed to keep itself far removed from the ruthless aura that generally surrounds a capital city. Built upon seven hills, this city has long since left the days when it was only used by seafaring explorers behind – today, Trivandrum is a swanky metropolis with a quaint urban charm and plenty of scenic places to visit. Proudly retaining its age-old cultural charm, Trivandrum offers a huge variety of sights including incredible museums, beautifully designed palaces, sacred temples and mesmerizing beaches, making the city one of the best tourist spots in South India.

DAY 1 PICKUP FROM TRIVANDURM: Hotel / Railway Station / Airport / Bus Station and proceed to Trivandurm Local Sightseeing places including:

SRI PADMANABHASWAMY TEMPLE: Built as a replica of the Adikesavaperumal Temple in Thiruvattar, the Padmanabhaswamy temple is lost in antiquity. Even after detailed research and study, historians and archaeologists are unable to determine the exact age of this immemorial temple. With its references in the ancient Epics and Puranas, we know that the temple holds great importance in the history of Hinduism.

NAPIER MUSEUM: The museum itself, based on the Indo-Saracenic styles of architecture is one of the most visited art and natural history museums in India. With works of famous artists, such as Raja Ravi Varma, and the celebrated Russian theosophist, Nicholas Roerich, and specimens of Tanjore and Mughal art forms, history was never more fun for those willing to delve into it.

SHANGHUMUGHAM BEACH: Shanghumugham beach is considered as the ‘Arattukadavu’ of Sri Ananthapadmanabhan – The presiding deity of the city. Thousands of Hindus perform ‘Bali Tharpanam’ during special occasions. Shanghu mugham is the prime location for Ganesh Nimarjan at the time of Vinayaka Chathurthi.Veli Tourist Village is near from the Shankumugham Beach boating facilities are offered at this picnic spot. Speed boats, restaurants and well landscaped gardens are available.

KUTHIRA MALIKA PALACE: The museum houses artifacts like the ethnic jewelry that was once worn by the queens, wooden paintings and carvings, armory and idols made of the purest metal. Another fascinating reason for this palace’s popularity is the Swathi Sangeethotsavam, an annual music festival that is conducted right in palace premises! Thousands of people throng here to watch the mesmerizing performances of the many leading classical musicians that are invited to this festival.

TRIVANDRUM ZOO: Thiruvananthapuram Zoo is one of the oldest of its kind in India. Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma, who ruled Travancore between 1830 and 1847, established a menagerie where royal tigers, panthers, cheetahs, deer, boar, and other wild animals were kept. His brother Uthram Thirunal and British Resident William Cullen formally established the zoo in 1857 as an annex to the Napier Museum. The zoo was originally built with the typical iron-barred cages prevalent at the time, and was designed for recreational purposes, but with increased loss of forest and wildlife due to human development, the goal of the Zoo has changed from recreation to conservation.

KOVALAM BEACH: An idyllic village along the coastlines of the Arabian Sea, Kovalam is most famous for its three pristine beaches with shallow waters and low tidal waves where one can go surfing, wooden and motorboat riding. The beach town of Kovalam has three famous beaches – Lighthouse beach, Samudra beach and Hawah beach, which together form its majestic rocky crescent. Kovalam essentially means a ‘grove of coconut trees’ and the little town is filled with these palms.

KANAKAKKUNNU PALACE: Kanakakkunnu Palace is the India’s First Digital Garden in a public place, created by Akhilesh S.V. Nair and Dr. A. Gangaprasad, University of Kerala, Department of Botany.Today the palace and its sprawling grounds are the venue for many cultural meets and programmes. An all India Dance Festival (October to March) is organised by the Department of Tourism every year. During this period the classical Indian Dance performances are conducted every day. There are several tourists streaming from many foreign countries every year.
